The well-received Pörssi mentoring program is back for its second year, following last year’s successful pilot. Our goal is to build a high-quality and versatile mentoring program that supports participants both in their studies and in the first steps into working life.

This year, we aim to form 12–14 mentoring pairs. Based on the feedback and observations collected from participants, we will continue developing the program year by year—making it an even greater success and, most importantly, a highly useful tool for our students.

The mentoring program is completely free of charge and is organized in collaboration with Pörssi Alumni ry. The program is run by a three-person mentoring team consisting of Pörssi’s mentoring program coordinator Daniela Wärnhjelm, mentoring expert Santeri Heinonen, and alumni representative Ilkka Kuusi. The team is responsible for the planning, execution of the program, and recruitment of participants from start to finish.

What is the Mentoring Program?

The mentoring program is an organized initiative where a more experienced, already graduated professional (mentor) guides someone with less experience (the mentee). The topics of guidance are highly individual, and we aim to match pairs in a way that the mentor can offer the most relevant support and help to their specific mentee (also called the actor).

Common discussion topics include career planning, professional skills, and clarifying academic goals. The program focuses on personal guidance tailored to each individual’s needs. The goal is to support each participant’s personal career development and transfer knowledge from the more experienced mentor to the mentee. Unlike lectures, mentoring is meant to directly address the individual’s specific concerns and questions. In the pilot version, for example, pairs practiced for job interviews together.

How to Apply?

Applications open on September 22, 2025, and close on Sunday, October 5, 2024, at 11:59 PM. You can apply via the Microsoft Forms link provided down below.

Please fill out the application carefully, as it will be used to create the most compatible mentoring pairs. Any member of Pörssi ry can apply, but preference will be given to students who are further along in their studies.

Before applying, please also check the schedule below to ensure you can commit to the entire duration of the program. The plan for the program is to hold three in-person meetings for the entire program (2x in Helsinki and 1x in Jyväskylä). On top of that the mentoring pairs will meet 5 times (or more) together. It would be preferable for the pairs to meet in person, but online meetups are completely okay too.
