Student Advocacy
The quality of education is one of the three strategic focus areas of Pörssi. The goal is for every member of Pörssi to receive high-quality education that meets the needs of working life, and for their rights to be upheld at the School of Business and Economics. High-quality education supports student well-being and promotes enjoyment during the study period.
The Head of Educational Politics (kopo) is a member of the board of Pörssi ry. Their main responsibilities include student advocacy and communication between Pörssi ry and the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics. Together with the division, the kopo represents students in the Education Development Group (Koulutuksen Kehittämisryhmä, KKR), where recommendations on broader policy lines are prepared and forwarded to the Faculty Council for decision-making. In addition, the kopo meets monthly with the dean and members of the faculty leadership and participates in the Kopo Forum organized by JYY, where current higher education policy topics are discussed under the leadership of the Student Union’s kopo.
Please feel free to contact the kopo at a low threshold if you have any questions or need help with advocacy-related matters.

At Pörssi ry, advocacy work is carried out not only by the Head of Educational Politics but also by the Division of Educational Politics (kopojaosto). Members of the division participate in subject meetings, assist in collecting feedback, take part in advocacy work, and help organize events.

Student representatives in administration (hallopeds) represent students on the Faculty Council of the School of Business and Economics and ensure that students’ voices and perspectives are taken into account in decision-making at JSBE. Hallopeds have the opportunity to develop teaching and to take part in shaping the future of the University of Jyväskylä.
Education policy is also an important part of the societal advocacy work of Suomen Ekonomit. The organization aims to ensure that the business degree maintains its strong reputation and that graduating economists receive a high-quality education. The value of the degree is based on students’ competence and their readiness to continuously develop their skills in a constantly changing environment. The kopo participates in higher education policy meetings for business student organizations organized by Suomen Ekonomit.
